Global Warming
a poem
by Tim Jarvis

Arcades on the prom
Now the factories have all gone
Ice cream, waffles
Sticky toffee apples
Now there’s beaches of sand
Where there was once dry land
Stick your toes in the water
No more bricks and mortar

The politicians said beware
The smell of the sea will be in the air
And the mayor of Manchester
To the people of Leicester
Heard about this the warning
But now love global warming

Kiwi Fruit and Palm Trees
David Bellamy warned of these
Barbecues at New Year
In the garden drinking beer
We’re all eating a la plancha
But don’t go to the Costa Blanca
These days we all pick
Alaska, Port Stanley or Reykjavik
